Wet Paint Tamworth is easing back into existence post-pandemic this spring. 17 plein air artists will be coming back to Tamworth to paint on April 13th. There will be a welcoming reception at The Preserve on the 13th, the paintings will be on display in the barn at The Preserve, and there will be a fund-raising dinner with the artists on Saturday April 15th. Artist Table Benefit Dinner

New to the event this year! Guests will savor a four course dinner featuring locally sourced foods prepared by The Preserve Cooks and paired with boutiques wines and artisanal spirits. The ARTISTS TABLE will celebrate the art of food and create an intimate setting for artists to share their craft during the age old art of breaking bread. By reservation only; limited number of tickets available at $100 per person.  A portion of the proceeds go to supporting “Crayons Matter.”

Wet Paint Closing Gala

The closing Gala will take place in the new event tent at The Preserve at Chocorua. 

Join the artists, art lovers, collectors under the beautiful Sperry Tent at the Preserve to celebrate the week of plein air painting! Gala attendees will enjoy complimentary locally prepared hors d’ oeuvres and wine from Tamworth’s Whippletree Winery all while listening to the lively sounds of local musicians, The Bongolians.

The Gala will be a chance to view the entire collection of artwork created during the week and an opportunity support artists, local businesses and nonprofit organizations. Gallery walls will feature masterpieces from the week, including a fundraising wall of donated works to benefit the “Crayons Matter” Marcia C. Abbott Scholarship Fund. All proceeds from the “Crayons Matter” artwork sales directly benefit Art Works in Chocorua for children’s art education and each painting can be purchased for a minimum of $100 on Saturday evening.

The Gala wraps up with the presentation of awards presented to artists for Best in Show, 2nd Place, People’s Choice and Most Improved.

Planning Your Medicine Garden Workshop - Remick Museum

Through slides, discussion, a garden visit, and tasting, we will get to know the planting needs and uses of 17 beautiful medicinal plants. We will address details like: Will the Bee balm overshadow the Lemon balm? And just how wide will the Elecampane reach? Which are the favorites of pollinators? Share teas and apply salves made from some of our plant subjects and take home a booklet of their planting and harvesting guidelines and some seed to get you started. We plan to have potted herbs for sale, too.

Cost: $35 for members | $45 for non-members, includes Museum admission

Call 603-323-7591 to register. Registration closes Monday, April 29/when filled. For ages 18 and up; 16 and up, with a parent. This class takes place indoors and out (weather permitting); the outdoor garden terrain is sloped and irregular. Dress for the weather, including outdoor shoes; bring an umbrella if it is raining.

Village Stroll Reception in Downtown Tamworth

Stroll the village, Tamworth History Center, The Other Store, Tamworth Distillery. and the Town Office. Each will open their doors to the public and will showcase a sampling of the wet paint artists’ week long collection of paintings.

This event will be the culmination of the week's worth of Wet Paint plein air painting.  Bring a picnic blanket, grab snacks and refreshments throughout the town and take in all of the history, art and beauty.

Wet Paint plein air painters perch from different perspectives at Tamworth's Renown Farmers Market.  Multi-tasking food shopping and fun has never been so artful.  Watch the paintings take shape before your eyes, pick up some groceries and stick around for the village stroll! There will be a speical "Quick Draw" competition among the artists, 2 hours to paint a scene from the market.

Learn from one of our pros, Diane Dubreuil, during this workshop at 4:00pm in the selectmen's room at the Town Hall, sponsored by the Tamworth Economic Development Commission. Then at 5:00pm, stroll the village for receptions at The Other Store, Distillery, and The Lyceum featuring the day's plein air work from around the village of Tamworth.

Wet Paint 2018

Wet Paint returns to Tamworth this year with an even bigger roster of Artists and more special events. Stay tuned here for details.  Events include two village strolls this year, Thursday in Chocorua, and Friday in Tamworth.  The closing event on May 12th will feature a concert by the internationally known Judith Owen, with legendary bassist Leland Sklarr and percussionist Pedro Segundo in a tent at The Preserve at Chocorua.
